Job Summary    

The ideal candidate for our position of Senior Director, Business Strategy & Operations is highly self-motivated, professional and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment This position will act as both an advisor to the CEO/COO and a delegate on his behalf. You will partner closely with the Senior Leadership team to develop, communicate and execute strategic plans across the business. Day-to-day responsibilities are dynamic and will vary greatly based on the candidate & the business needs at the time.  

We are looking for a strategic thought partner who is ready to have impact on day one, driving business needs forward. The Senior Director, Business Strategy & Operations will work on a variety of initiatives for the CEO/COO with a primary focus on projects related to maximizing the output of our people as it relates to our annual objectives, and leading on special projects that propel our business forward. 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Oversee strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution under the guidance of the CEO/COO
  • Assist and communicate with executives in decision-making, project management, and initiative implementation
  • Improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity
  • Work alongside functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations, Legal, Marketing, Sales, and HR  to help drive the most important company priorities forward
  • Build and develop relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations 
  • Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Participate in strategic discussions, decision-making, and the active implementation of key initiatives 
  • Serves as a liaison between staff, management, and executives regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning
  • Act as thought partner to the CEO/COO on all aspects of corporate strategy
  • Drive the annual business planning process and work intimately with the senior leadership team to shape strategic priorities
  • Build strong relationships with C-Level and Team Leads to influence decision-making across the organization
  • Lead planning and execution of strategic initiatives required to maintain our rapid growth 
  • Identify business processes and systems to be redesigned for scalability
  • Develop and maintain awareness and understanding of the Chief Operating Officer’s (COO) portfolio including the strategic direction, program initiatives, and operational projects.
  • Act as a “business value accelerator” by joining project teams to augment the teams or close potential talent gaps among team members. 
  • Drive improved business case development; refine project charters; drive better decision-making; keep COO apprised of issues and have insights as to looming or potential risk.
  • Work directly with the CEO/COO to prepare business cases, strategy materials, steering committee materials, project updates, etc
  • Participate in strategic discussions, decision-making, and the active implementation of key initiatives
  • Build and maintain productive and highly collaborative relationships with operations leaders
  • Coordinate with senior operations leaders to ensure strategic goals are achieved and effectively communicated to executives and sponsors
  • Serves as a liaison between staff, management, and executives regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning

Requirements

  • MBA degree strongly preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 8+ experience with a strategy consulting, strategic planning/corporate strategy groups 
  • Experience successfully creating structure and setting processes for cross-functional teams 
  • Agile and organized working style to manage and consistently prioritize key initiatives 
  • Strong program management skills to drive multiple initiatives in a changing environment with limited supervision 
  •  Experience navigating complex / matrix business organizations and negotiating optimal solutions across cross-functional teams
